Political confusion still persists in J
Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (M) believes that despite considerable improvement in the overall security situation and developmental activities, political confusion persists in Jammu and Kashmir.
''Until the Kashmir issue is not resolved as per the wishes of the people of the state, political stability in the region was not possible'', State Secretary of the CPI(M) Mohammad Yousuf Targami said at a public meeting in south Kashmir today.
He said until this vexed issue is resolved, the slogan of happy and prosperous Kashmir will remain a futile exercise.
Mr Targami, who is leader of the CPI(M) in the Assembly, expressed concern over the delay in resuming peace process between India and Pakistan.
He criticised the parties who. for their self interests on the eve of 2008 general assembly polls, are raising the hollow slogans of self rule, independence and right to self determination.
Mr Targami said Indian, Pakistan and political parties of Jammu and Kashmir have to make a sincere effort to resolve the issue.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have suffered during all these years, cannot be held hostage for political reasons.
Expressing concern over the deadlock between India and Pakistan, Mr Targami said the Cross-LoC bus service should not remain confined to divided families only. This service, he said, should be made available to all those living on both sides of the border.
He demanded employment and other packages for the people of the state, particularly for youths.
