Licences of 13 drug shops suspended, 7 others closed in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Drug and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) has launched a week-long massive drive against unlicensed drugs sale establishments in the Kashmir Valley.

An official spokespersons said the DFCO sealed 13 shops, suspended the licences of seven shops and closed down one shop for three days.

He said the DFCO officials conducted special raids in Srinagar, Baramulla and Kupwara districts to ensure implementation of provisions of Drug and Cosmetic Act, 1940, in letter and spirit.

During the drive, 13 unlicensed drugs sale establishments were sealed, 10 drug sale establishments closed down for one to three days, due to the absence of qualified persons, sale, purchase record and for not issuing cash memos.

Besides, seven licenses had been suspended and 10 drug samples lifted for test, analysis.

People had been requested to contact Deputy Controller Drug and Food Control in case of any complaint.
