Srinagar, May 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police, Crime Branch, has unearthed a deal through which a piece of land belonging to a Kashmiri pandit was sold after preparing fake power of attorney in the old city.

A spokesman of the CB said a complaint was received from one Bushah Lal Teng alleging that a piece of land measuring 2500 square yard at Gund-e-Almor, Nayee Sarak here has been illegally occupied by one Farooq Ahmed Rah.

He alleged that Rah had prepared fake documents of the land in league with others. The CB conducted an enquiry which has prima facie established that a fake power of attorney was prepared by Tariq Ahmed Beigh in association with another broker Mohammad Yousuf Malik alias Guroo in the name of another broker Mohammad Shafi Sheikh.

As per the fake attorney, Sheikh has been nominated as lawful attorney holder of open land.

Sheikh later sold the land to Farooq Ahmed Rah on payment of Rs 6 lakh and in this regard a sale permission case has been executed in the office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir in his favour.

The land was subsequently sold to one Manzoor Ahmad Pathan against a payment of Rs 9 lakh who is constructing a house on the it.

During enquiry the attorney holder Sheikh said he has no knowledge about the power of attorney nor does he know the land owner Teng family and thus confirms that this Power of Attorney has been fraudulently executed by the suspect.

Accordingly FIR number 21/2008 has been registered against the accused.
