Washington, May 18 : Amy Winehouse's mother has revealed that she was not at all upset when her troubled daughter eloped to wed last year - because she believes her daughter's marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil was a "joke."
The Rehab singer wed Fielder-Civil, 25, in an unannounced ceremony in Miami, Florida last May - less than a month after he proposed to her.
And though Amy's father, Mitch, begged her not to tie the knot until she returned to her native England, her mother Janis says she wasn't disappointed with the rushed affair, because "it meant nothing."
"He's been in prison for almost as long as they've been together. It's a joke. But then so was the wedding, really," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.
"I wasn't upset by it because it meant nothing; nothing whatsoever.
"I know Mitch, Amy's father, was upset (but) I think they were in Miami and got caught up in the moment, and that was it. It was more like a picnic in the park than a wedding," she added.
