New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) Motor Licensing Officer (MLO) Praveen Desai, his assistant Ram Singh and eight touts, who had been arrested on charges of involvement in the issuance of permanent driving licences against monetary considerations, were today sent to judicial custody till May 30.

Additional Sessions Judge A S Yadav sent Desai and the other accused to judicial custody till May 30.

The Motor Licensing Officer of the Transport Authority at Ashok Vihar was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi Government on charges of involvement in issuance of permanent driving licences against monetary considerations.

In all, 10 people were arrested. The ACB sleuths raided the office and residence of Desai on May 14 and seized several documents.

The ACB sleuths claimed to have come across huge amounts of assets, including a 4,000 square feet plush bungalow in Green Park belonging to Desai. Officers alleged this was "just the tip of the iceberg".

The MLO and others were allegedly caught red-handed on camera in a sting operation conducted by the ACB.
