Court acquits UP minister in 27-year-old murder case

Basti, May 17 (UNI) A local court today acquitted seven accused, including Uttar Pradesh Food and Supply Minister Ram Prasad Chaudhary, in a 27-year-old murder case for lack of evidence.

District judge Kalimulla Khan today gave the ruling on the double murder case, after all witnesses, including deceased's uncle turned hostile in the court.

On March 3, 1981, Gomti Singh and Ramnaval Singh were killed after assailants lobed bomb shells and indiscriminately fired upon them.

Gomti Singh's uncle Jagdev Singh had lodged a named FIR against Ram Prasad Chaudhary, Rambasore, Indrajeet Chaudhary, Virendra Chaudhary, Parasnath Okarnath, Jai Prakash Singh and Amil Ahmad.

However, he turned hostile in the court.
