One slaughtered, soldier injured

Srinagar, May 16: Militants slaughtered one person and injured a soldier in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

They said militants kidnapped 27-year-old Gulzar Ahmad Dar at village Akhal in Pulwama district on May 15.

His throat slit body was recovered this morning from the same area, they added.

In another incident militants attacked a security force search party at Chaki-i-Sanzipora, Handwara, in the frontier district of Kupwara. Security forces also retaliated and in the encounter one soldier was injured.

The injured soldier was hospitalised, sources said adding that the search operation was still going on in the area.
