New entertainment channel 'Just Punjabi' to be launched soon

Jalandhar, May 16 (UNI) To provide complete entertainment to the Punjabis across the world, a new general entertainment channel 'Just TV Punjabi' would be launched by mid June in the country.

Addressing a joint press conference here today, Channel partner and CEO Manish Vasisht and Ms Priya Paul Singh said to uphold the spirit of 'Punjabiat' globally, the new entertainment channel would cater to the needs of family entertainment in true Punjabi style.

Mr Vasisht said the channel would entertain its viewers with its variety of programmes as per the values and traditions of Punjab.

''The channel, with full spectrum of shows, including soaps, reality shows and musical programmes among others, would depict the culture of Punjab in real Punjabi form,'' he added.

Keeping in mind the family values, Ms Singh said the serials would be based on Punjabi literature and folklores of the State. To give pure Punjabi touch, services of language experts and writers had already been hired, she added.

The main studios would be set up in Chandigarh and at Kurali in SAS Nagar, while production and shooting would be held in different parts of Punjab, she said adding that local talent would be given an opportunity to act in the serials, for which audition would start soon.

The packaging, contents of the channel would be of international level and not that of regional standard, Mr Vasisht asserted.

For the other side of Punjab in Pakistan, which too have the same traditions and cultures, he said,''In near future we would like to cater to the Punjabis of that side and would also try to tie up to share contents with each others.'' The channel would be on air by mid June and in the first phase, it would cater to the viewers of north India only, Mr Vasisht added.
