Cong doors closed for Bhajan Lal: Hooda

Hisar, May 16 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today criticised Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) leader Bhajan Lal for his ''ungratefulness'' to the Congress and asserted that he would never be taken back in the party.

''Mr Bhajan Lal had criticised Congress President Sonia Gandhi despite the fact that he was retained as the Chief Minister for a long time by Indira Gandhi and was made president of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee by Ms Sonia Gandhi,'' Mr Hooda said.

The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting of the Congress workers at Adampur, the home turf of Mr Bhajan Lal from where he is once again trying his luck in the May 22 byelection after being disqualified under anti-defection law for launching a new party when he was in the Congress.

Mr Bhajan Lal's ''ungrateful attitude'' could never be justified and the doors of the Congress would never open for him again, he added. Mr Hooda pointed out that in Kerala, Mr Karunakaran had left the Congress but he later ''pleaded'' to get reinsated in the party.

Although Mr Karunakaran was allowed to join the Congress again, the party would never open its doors for Mr Bhajan Lal.

Mr Hooda claimed that in 1998, Mr Bhajan Lal had helped Mr Ajay Singh Chautala, son of former Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala, to get elected to Parliament. Thereafter, Mr Chautala also helped the son of Mr Bhajan Lal in the same manner.

''Now this politics of connivance has been exposed and the people would not be misled by their political gimmicks,'' he added.
