Court refuses to direct GPSC on exam date change
Ahmedabad, May 15 (UNI) The High court today refused to direct the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) to change the dates of examinations for class-1 and class-2, saying it would not venture into this field.
''It is not for the court to determine whether the GPSC officers should be sensitive to requirement of changing the date in the larger interest of students of Gujarat,'' the court said while disposing off a petition filed by All Gujarat Students Federation requesting it to direct the GPSC to change the exam dates as students appearing for the same exams are appearing for UPSC exams, scheduled for May 18, 2008, and dates for both are coinciding.
Judge Bhagvati Prasad observed that in the broader perspective a request appears to be very genuine but it is not for this court to determine whether the GPSC officers should be sensitive to the requirements of the students of the state.
The officer can consider the question suo motu and appropriately amend the dates, if that can be done, the Judge remarked.
