SC dismisses plea of Afzal Guru

New Delhi, May 14: The Supreme Court today dismissed the writ petition filed by Parliament attack convict Shaukat Hussain Guru.

A bench, headed by Justice P P Naolekar, dismissed the petition on the grounds that the issue raised by the petitioner had already been considered and rejected by the apex court. Shaukat was awarded death sentence by the trial court for not informing the police about the criminal conspiracy despite having the knowledge of the same. The sentence was upheld by the Delhi High Court. The apex court, however, commuted his death sentence to ten years imprisonment by holding him guilty of the offence under section 123 A of the IPC.
