Two policemen suspended for security lapse

Bhubaneswar, May 13: Two policemen were suspended for allowing gangster Sandeep Acharya alias Raja, the key accused in marathon wonder kid Budhia's coach Biranchi Das's murder case, to talk to the media while in police custody.

The gangster was taken to a hospital here yesterday for a medical check up before he was produced before the Court of the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Bhubaneswar, under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Niranjan Mallik and Assistant Sub-Inspector R K Rout of Baragada police station.

Mr Mallik and Mr Rout were suspended on the charges of negligence of duty late last night as they allowed the gangster to talk to the mediapersons at the hospital.

At the hospital, Raja denied his link with any political party and his involvement in the murder case. He said he was ready for any technical test, including brain mapping and narco analysis.

SDJM Arun Kumar Sahoo yesterday rejected the bail petition of Raja Acharaya moved by his counsel Bana Bihari Mohanty. He was sent to Bhubaneswar Special Jail where his associate and co-accused in the murder case Chagala was also lodged.
