Tirupati, May 13: The week-long 'Gangamma jatra'(folk festival) which began on May 6 will conclude in the wee hours of tomorrow.

The devotees clad in various 'vesam' (disguise), criss-crossed the streets of the temple town shouting filthy words as part of the tradition to drive away evil forces and offered prayers to different folk goddess in the temples during the festival period.

Smearing sandelwood paste all over the body, the devotees wearing glittering clothes covered their heads with jasmine garlands. After performing arati today, they entered the temple of goddess Gangamma.

The celebrations will come to a close after smashing the huge earthen idol of goddess erected outside the Tataiah Gunta Gangamma temple at the auspicious time by the priest.
