Survey to find out employment of children

Perambalur, May 12 (UNI) The Perambalur district administration will carry out a survey this month to find out whether children were employed in stone quarries and brick kilns in the district.

After flagging of a rally here today, to sensitise the people against employing children, District Collector Anil Mashram said the survey was part of the action taken to prevent child labour.

He said he had instructed the officials to closely monitor the enrolment of children in schools and cases of dropouts.

The Collector also suggested that non-governmental organisations adopt children from economically weak families and enrol them in school.
