Kerala Cong (S) leader to move HC over sand mining deal

Kottayam, May 12 (UNI) Kerala Congress (Secular) leader P C George, MLA, today said he would move the Kerala High Court, seeking a CBI probe into the mineral sand mining deal with a Russian company by the Kerala Minerals and Metals (KMML).

Talking to reporters here, he alleged that the CPI(M) Politburo was ''involved'' in the deal, which helped the party to get a financial benefit to the tune of Rs 800 crore.

''Those who had formed human chain in protest against mineral sand mining by private firms at Chavara were now selling out Kerala's mineral wealth to a foreign firm,'' he charged.

As a result of the deal, KMML would become a mere ''feeding unit'' of the Russian company, Mr George added.
