CCTV in power plants and dams in Orissa
Bhubaneswar,May 12 (UNI) Close circuit televisions(CCTV) will be installed in all major hydro power and thermal power plants and river dams to strengthen security measures around the plants.
Home Secretary T K Mishra said the plant authorities have agreed to set up the CCTVs at a meeting held here today to assess the security system of the power plants and dams.
The CCTVs would used in Maachkund, Balimela, Upper Kolab, Rengali, Hirakud and Indravati dams and two thermal power plants in the state. The project authorities, the Home Secretary said, have also agreed to develop their security infrastructure by providing VHF, binoculars and mobiles to the security personnel.
Mr Mishra said the dams and power plant authority also agreed to raise their own security system and recruit more people to develop the security infrastructure within a stipulated time.
He said the government would impart training to the people recruited by various power plants and the dam authorities.
Ex-servicemen could be engaged to strengthen the security system, if needed, he added.
Presently, the security of the dams and the power plants was being managed jointly both by the government and the project authorities.
The meeting also decided to deploy more personnel for providing better security to the project sites, Mr Mishra stated.
