UPSRTC mows five, injures two in Noida

Noida, May 11: A speeding Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus killed at least five people, including a minor, and injured two others severely in Sector 35 here. The mishap occurred around 0030 hrs at Morna village, where driver Satpal Singh hit seven labourers sleeping near the UP Roadways boundary wall which was being renovated, killing five of them instantly, Superintendent of Police (City) Mahesh Kumar Mishra said today.

The driver is absconding and a manhunt had been launched, he added. The injured, both minors, were battling for life at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and district hospital. The deceased had been identified as Kude (48), Sugar Bai (45), Hari Bai (16), Gulab (7) and Tunda (40), all residents of Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 respectively had been announced by both the UPSRTC and Gautam Buddha Nagar district administration to kin of those killed in the accident.

Bodies had been sent for autopsy.
