Home Minister to visit Nagaland on May 14

Kohima, May 11: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Union Minister of State for Defence Production Rao Inderjit Singh are likely to pay a day's visit to Nagaland on May 14.

Official sources said Mr Patil would arrive at Dimapur on May 14 to take the stock of the security situation in the state and review the ongoing scenario with senior Army and civil officials.

He will also attend the Passing Out Parade of Assam Rifles jawans at Sukhovi in Dimapur, the sources added.

He was also likely to visit Kohima, where he will meet Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan and return to New Delhi on the same day.

The Home Minister's visit has assumed significance following the recent insurgency-related problems in the state and increasing inter-factional clashes between the rival factions of the NSCN.

Besides, Union Minister of State for Defence Production Rao Inderjit Singh will arrive at Dimapur on May 14 and visit the three Corps at Rangapahar near Dimapur.

He will also meet top Army officials and is likely to visit Mokokchung and Tuensang before leaving for New Delhi on the same day.
