Rs 11 lakh given under welfare scheme

Ambala, May 11: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shayin today disbursed cheques worth Rs 11 lakh to 110 beneficiaries under the National Family Welfare Scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shayin said that under the scheme Rs 10,000 was given to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) family whose head of the family died between the age of 18 to 64. The dependant of the deceased must apply to the Social Welfare Department with in one year after the death.

Mr Shayin also disbursed Rs 31,500 to 11 brilliant students of the district under Education Motivation Scheme for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled tribes. Under the scheme Rs 3000 is given to a Scheduled Saste student who has passed class 12th in first division in the first attempt and similarly Rs 4500 to graduate and Rs 6000 to post graduate students.
