Guwahati, May 11 : Suspected militants of Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) group in retaliation attacked a railway station in North Cachar Hills district of Assam and killed three persons, after 12 of their members perished in an encounter with security forces.

The DHD (J) militants attacked Migrain Bisu railway station around 10 p.m. and opened fire, killing three persons on the spot, official sources have said.

The attack was suspected to be in retaliation as the outfit's 12 members were shot dead and 18 others injured in an encounter with army and police at Haralu village of the district earlier on Saturday.

The DHD (J) threatened to withdraw from the ceasefire with the Centre following Saturday's encounter and demanded that the government stop railway broad gauge conversion work by Sunday midnight.
