Several passengers stranded at Port Blair airport
Port Blair, May 10 (UNI) More than 500 passengers have been stranded at the Port Blair International Airport following inclement weather and heavy rain since last night.
Sources in the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said here today that as the runway had been inundated with rainwater, no flights could land at the airport this morning.
''Work is going on to pump out rainwater from the runway.
However, there is still lot of mud on it,'' the sources said.
The AAI closed down all operations at the airport today due to the inclement weather.
As a result, passengers from Kolkata and Chennai, mainly tourists, are stranded at Port Blair.
Meanwhile, the power supply also remained affected throughout the capital city since last night owing to the unfavourable weather.
