Music competitions are not proper fora to further career: Asha
Kolhapur, May 10 (UNI) Renowned playback singer Asha Bhosale is of the opinion that television competitions like ''Mahagayak'' do not leave a lasting impression on the minds of the viewers.
People watching the competition, forget about it soon thereafter, Asha Bhosale said while speaking to reporters here yesterday.
That is because the participants present old songs. In order to improve the retention, new compositions and music tunes are necessary, she said.
While noting such competitions were alright for the youngsters to present their talent, Ms Bhosale was, however, doubtful whether these were the appropriate fora for the singers to establish their names further in this field.
New singers and music composers should avoid copying old songs.
Instead, they should create something new that will capture the imagination of the people, she stressed.
To a question, Ms Bhosale said more and more radio and television channels were needed in Marathi language.
