Ministers deny receiving notice from IT department

Bhopal, May 10 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Narmada Valley Development Authority Minister Nagendra Singh, today denied the he had received any notice from the Income Tax department over filing an IT return.

Mr Singh told UNI over phone that he was basically a farmer and his income did not fall under tax ambit earlier. However, he started filing return as per the rules once he was elected as legislator.

He said he had no other source of income and had not made any investment and had provided all the information required as per the prescribed format of the IT department.

Sources close to Cooperative Minister Gopal Bhargava and Revenue Minister Kamal Patel also said that they had not received any notice so far.

On the other hand, an IT department official told UNI that one minister had been served notice for not filing tax return.

Meanwhile, he refused to provide names of the minister or further information citing rules.

Unconfirmed sources informed that the IT department had served notices to three ministers.
