Imphal, May 10: Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen Paramjit Singh has appreciated the efforts of the AR troops in dealing with the insurgency-related problems in Manipur while at the same time developing cordial relations with the local people.
The PRO of the AR Colonel Pant said here today that the DGAR had been on a two-day visit to Manipur on May 8 and 9 and interacted with troops stationed in the state.
The Lt General addressed all ranks of the HQ IGAR (South) and also awarded DGAR Commendation Cards to ten jawans for their distinguished services.
Mr Singh, while addressing the gathering, appreciated the hard work done by the IGAR (South) under Maj Gen B K Chengapa and all ranks of the IGAR (South) for undertaking Military Civic Action projects and riding the people of the menace of militants in the Samtal Salient area.
The Lt General also informed about the various welfare, housing, modernisation and hostel projects taken up for the betterment of the troops and their families and also the local populace in the fields of education and improving standards of living.
The hard work and dedication of the troops deployed in Manipur was helping the AR live up to its motto of 'Friends and Sentinels of the Northeast', he said.
He exhorted the troops to continue to strive hard in future and make the organisation and the country proud.
