Body found in parts at Durgapur DVC project site at Andal
Durgapur, May 10 (UNI) Tension brimmed over in the distrct, after bits and pieces of a body of a day labourer of the Damodar Valley Corporation(DVC) thermal power project was found at the construction site at Andal today.
While, Police Officer in Charge Pintu Mukherjee said the the matter was under investigation, the local people and construction workers claimed that it was not a single body as they had recovered two sets of sandals from the site and demanded that the police should bring in their canine team to investigate the matter.
As tension mounted in the district, the project workers vandalised parts of the construction site and set fire to a garbage vat nearby to emphasise their demands.
The body, identified as that belonging to a Praddep Mahanto has been recovered by the police and the area condorned off.
DVC Chief Engineer Asutosh Chakroborty said, ''We are looking into the matter and the police have already started their investigation.'' BHEL's Senior DGM J S Saxena said, ''It is an unfortunate incident but police investigation is on and hopefully we would able to do some justice to whosoever was responsible for this horrible act.''
