TN Teachers association urges Govt to pay on par with PGs

Tiruchirapalli, May 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu All School Teachers Welfare Association today urged the State Government to bring the pay-scale of secondary-grade teachers working in Adidravida Welfare Schools on par with post graduate teachers.

Talking to newspersons here, State Association President R Radhakrishnan said in 1997, the Government had appointed Post-graduate teachers as secondary-grade teachers in Adidravida Welfare Schools and filled up the vacancies.

Mr Radhakrishnan alleged that though 6000 post graduate teachers were working as secondary grade teachers for the last ten years, they were not given pay on par with them and were also denied promotion prospects.

He alleged that despite several representations, the Government had not invited them for talks to sort out issues.

He urged the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to render justice to their demand.

He said if the Government fails to consider the association's demand by second week of next month, they would have no alternative, but to resort to statewide strike and seek legal remedy from the High Court.
