Tension in KGF as BJP candidate attacked

Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka, May 9 (UNI) Tension prevailed in the town following an attack on BJP Candidate Sampangi and three of his supporters by unidentified culprits here late last night.

Police said the miscreants, who followed Mr Sampangi's car, waylaid it near Robertsonpet and attacked with lethal weapons.

Mr Sampangi jumped out of the car and escaped with a minor injury.

Three of his followers in the car sustained injuries and were admitted to the Government General Hospital.

The news of the incident spread and thousands of BJP workers came to the streets in protest against the attack.

A case has been booked with the police and a complaint sent to the Election Commission.
