TDP demands action against Minister for 'criticising' EC
Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) Alleging that the Congress Ministers were ''violating'' the Model Code of Conduct during the election campaign for the bypoll to 18 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats scheduled for May 29 in Andhra Pradesh, senior TDP leader and MP M V Mysoora Reddy today demanded that the Election Commission must take action against Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy for making ''objectionable remarks'' against the EC on May 10.
Addressing the press here, Mr Reddy pointed out that the minister by ''criticising'' the EC, an independent constitutional body, had ''degraded'' the image of the Commission.
The Commission should take the minister's statements suo moto and take action against him immediately or else the TDP would submit a memorandum to the EC on the issue.
Stating that the Governor should have issued notices to the minister for making such remarks, the TDP leader said the Centre should also have imposed President's Rule in the state under Article 356 for ''violating'' the Model Code of Conduct and ''insulting'' the constitutional body.
