Bihar: Railway official suspended for extortion

A
senior
booking
clerk
at
Saharsa
Railway
junction
in
north
Bihar
was
suspended
today
on
charge
of
extorting
money
from
passengers.
Official
sources
here
said
the
Senior
Divisional
Railway
Manager(SDRM),
East
Central
Railway,
Saharsa
Division,
acted
on
a
tip-off
that
booking
clerk
Sanjay
Kumar
Jha
had
been
extorting
additional
amount
from
passengers
while
issuing
tickets.
A team of railway officials, headed by SDRM Upendra Kumar, laid a trap and caught Mr Jha red-handed. He was charging Rs 50 extra for issuing a ticket to a decoy passenger. Jha was immediately arrested and suspended by the DRM.
Later, following interrogation Rs 870 were recovered from him.
