Powergrid adopts six itsis in three states

New Delhi, May 9 (UNI) Embracing the ethos of Corporate Social Responsibility, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) has adopted six Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) -- three in Bihar, and one each in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Spurred by its newly acquired Navratna status, Powergrid will bring into play its rich experience in power engineering to assist in the revision of old curricula and development of new curriculum to make the ITIs market driven. It will help upgrading the skill of instructors, provide guest faculty, help ITI in development of specification of equipment besides providing 'on-the-job' training/industrial visits to trainees.

The programme, aimed at promoting quality technical education, reaffirms the social commitment of Powergrid as evident during the 1999 super-cyclone in Orissa and the 2001 Gujarat earthquake.
