Over 11.72 lakh voters to cast vote in HP on May 22: CEO

Shimla, May 9 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda today said that over 11,72,944 electors will cast their vote on May 22 for the Bye-election of Hamirpur parliamentary constituency.

"Out of the total electors, 5,88,149 are male electors and 5,84,795 are female electors and total 1,373 polling station has been set up in the 17 assembly segments of Hamirpur parliamentary constituency which includes one auxiliary polling station of Gagret (SC) segment. Una (Gen) assembly segments has maximum number of 96 polling stations", she said.

Mr Nanda said that elaborate arrangements had been made to conduct peaceful, fair and transparent elections.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that 179 polling stations had been declared as hyper sensitive, 303 as sensitive polling stations and rest of 891 polling stations are of ordinary nature.

She said that 1611 Electronic Voting Machines had been provided for the polling stations, which includes reserve. Two EVMs had been provided in each remote polling station, besides about 38,000 ballot papers would be printed for the ensuing elections, he said.
