General Kapoor dedicates hostel to students in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 9 (UNI) Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor today dedicated a hostel to people of Tangdhar in the frontier district of Kupwara.

General Kapoor who arrived here today on a three-day visit to valley inaugurated and handed over the hostel building to students at a colourful ceremony which was attended among others by Lt Gen P C Bhardwaj GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen M Sabharwal, GOC 15 Corps, Maj Gen JS Bajwa, GOC Vajra Division.

Mrs Kirti Kapoor, President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) and Mrs Deepa Bhardwaj, President Army AWWA were also present on the occasion.

The project, first of lts kind in the border area was to improve the general infrastructure and education facilities.

The hostel, which provides boarding and lodging facilities to children, is spread over an area of about 4400 square feet.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 1.05 crore, the hostel has 22 living rooms, two warden rooms on, dinning hall, ante room and a visitors room.
