Woman naxalite cadre shot dead in encounter

Koraput, Apr 8 (UNI) A woman naxalite cadre was shot dead during an encounter inside the Sikalaba forest on the Orissa-Andhra Pradesh border about 100 kms from here yesterday.

Police said today that the encounter took place under Naranapatna police station area when a joint party of the Special Operation Group and the CRPP was engaged in the combing operation.

At least ten naxalites, however, managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

The SOG jawans recovered the body from the encounter site. They also seized an SLR gun and eight kits containing naxalite literature and incriminating documents.
