Platoon Commander killed in Naxalite ambush
Jagdalpur, May 8 (UNI) A Platoon Commander and two other officials of the Chhattisgarh Special Armed Force were killed in a landmine explosion triggered by Maoist Naxalites in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh today, police said.
On a tip-off that the Naxalites had stopped construction of a culvert on Badgaon-Chhindgaon road, a police team from Badgaon police station headed for the spot on foot. The ultras exploded the landmine near Chhindgaon village.
Platoon Commander Mahulal, ASI Shyamlal Ambale and Constable Sangram Salam were killed on the spot.
Later, the ultras and security personnel were engaged in a shootout on the spot, about 5 km from Badgaon, but details were still awaited.
