Parents urgu Centre to bring back ward's body from UK
Vijayawada, May 7 (UNI) The parents of 23-year-old V Samarjya Jyothirmayee, who was killed by unidentified men at Birmingham in the United Kingdom early today, appealed to the Centre to take necessary steps to bring back the body to India.
''As we can not afford to bring the body of my daughter from the UK, I earnestly appeal to the government to take steps in this regard,'' the deceased girl's father V V Naga Sai Baba told UNI.
He said his daughter, pursuing an 18-month Master of Pysiotherapy course in Vulvamtan University, was brutually attacked at her house at 0230 hrs (IST) by unidentified men, killing her on the spot and seriously injuring her other roommate. The reasons for the sudden assault were not not known, he added.
Jyothirmayee, who was staying with two other girls from Andhra Pradesh, had left for the UK eight months ago to complete the course, Baba said.
He said a police officer from the UK telephoned him and told him that the post-mortem was completed and asked to collect the body.
''We are in a dilemma on how to get the body of my daughter,'' Baba said.
