K'taka: Counting of votes to be telecast live

Mysore, May 8: Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer P Manivannan today said that for the first time counting and results in the district would be telecast live on May 25.

Speaking to reporters he said counting of votes would be taken up in four places in the city and it would be telecast live by setting up giant screens in the eleven taluks. When results are announced it would be shown on the screens to help people who throng in front of the counting centres. Meanwhile district officials have seized Rs 1.2 lakh in cash, sarees and other gift articles meant to be distributed to voters. 300 rowdy elements had been arrested and some of them were given bail after they filed affidavits promising good behaviour during elections.
