BJP demands Anbumani Ramadoss' resignation
Bangalore, May 8 (UNI) BJP National General Secretary H N Anantkumar today described the Supreme Court judgement in favour of AIIMS Director P Venugopal as an indictment of the Centre and demanded the resignation of Heath Minister Anbumani Ramadoss for showing a hostile discrimination.
Talking to newspersons here, the BJP leader said Dr Ramadoss should quit immediately or Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must show him the door, following the quashing of the AIIMS (Amendment) Act introduced by his Ministry.
Quashing the Amendment, which had resulted in the removal of Prof Venugopal, the Apex Court said it was unconstitutional, and allowed reinstatement of Dr Venugopal till July this year.
Mr Anantkumar said ''The doctor was fighting for the autonomy of the AIIMS much against the Minister who wanted it to become his personal fiefdom.'' Criticising Dr Singh for addressing election speeches in a closed door meeting, he said it was the first time that the Prime Minister of the country was addressing a hall meeting during the election time in the state.
Mr Anantkumar said the BJP had conducted numerous public meetings and rallies in which many national leaders of the party took part.
