Agri index eases by 16.65 pc at 1,372.58 points

Mumbai, May 8 (UNI) Agri index eased by 16.65 per cent at 1,372.58 points, at the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) here today.

Gold February 2009 contract fell by 0.59 per cent at Rs 11,760 per 10 grams. Silver September 2008 contract gained 0.59 per cent at Rs 22,847 per kg.

There was a mixed trend in metal contracts. Lead June 2008 contract gained 0.74 per cent at Rs 101.90 per kg, while Tin May 2008 contract lost 0.79 per cent at Rs 1,002.75 per kg.

Crude oil August 2008 contract was up by 3.26 per cent at Rs 4,974 per barrel and July 2008 contract by 2.32 per cent at Rs 5,063 per barrel.

Mentha oil made impressive gains with May 2008 contract up by 4 per cent at Rs 470.10 per quintal and June 2008 contract by 3.94 per cent at Rs 469.40 per quintal. Jute May 2008 contract shed 0.90 per cent at Rs 1,600 per quintal.

Mentha oil May 2008 contract was up by 4 per cent at Rs 470.10 per quintal, an MCX release said.
