3 tennis players sit on dharna, DGP hands matter to CO
Varanasi, May 8 (UNI) Three state-level tennis players today sat on a dharna, alleging that they were manhandled by the police here.
According to sources, three players -- Nagendra, Rajendra and Omlata -- were going to Sigra stadium on motorcycle, and during vehicle checking, they had a spat with some policemen.
The three then left their vehicle at the spot.Later, they returned to the place and sat on a dharna, alleging that the policemen manhandled them.
Police took two players Nagendra and Rajendra, to Sigra police station and released them after some enquiry.
The tennis players also met state Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh.
Meanwhile, the DGP handed over the matter for investigation to Circle Officer (CO), asking him to submmit a report.
