Maoist ultras shot dead former Mukhiya in Bihar

Motihari, May 7: Armed Maoist ultras shot dead a former mukhiya of the Madhuban Ghat Panchayat under Muffasin police station in East Champaran district.

Superintendent of Police N H Khan said here today that about 30 armed extremists attacked the house of Pushpa Devi, Mukhiya of Madhuban Ghat Panchayat, and shot dead her husband Nawal Prasad, former mukhiya of the Panchayat, late last night.

The ultras attacked Pushpa Devi's house and fired indiscriminately, killing Nawal Prasad on the spot and injuring his father and brother.

The injured were admitted to a hospital in critical condition.

The SP said the extremists committed the crime probably because of some personal feud with Nawal Prasad.

Massive manhunt had been launched to nab the assailants, the SP added.
