Government hostel student dies of jaundice

Nashik, May 6 (UNI) An 18-year-old student of a government hostel died of jaundice here.

Kishore Dugal, a Science student studying in class 11 in Tribal Government Hostel, Peth Road, Panchvati, died of jaundice in the District Civil Hospital yesterday, sources said.

As many as 17 other students of the same hostel are also receiving treatment for the disease.

The hostel has 150 students in all. Due to vacations, there are only 50 students at present. According to sources, 18-20 students of the hostel have been suffering from headache, vomiting, and stomach ache for some days. Even after informing about this, the authorities did not pay heed towards this. When some of the students went to private clinics for check-up, it was found that they were suffering from jaundice.

Dugal was admitted to the hospital two to three days ago, where he breathed his last yesterday.

According to the hostel authorities, the student had gone to his home in the vacations, where he was infected by the disease.
