4 killed, 2 injured in inter-factional clashes at Dimapur
Kohima, May 6 (UNI) At least four persons, including two civilians, were killed and two others seriously injured in separate incidents in the unabated inter-factional clashes between the rival factions of the NSCN in and around Dimapur town.
Official sources said unidentified gunmen shot dead one NSCN-IM activist and another of the same faction was seriously injured by unidentified assailants, when both of them were travelling in a car.
Another car intercepted the vehicle and fired upon them in the Burma Camp area of Dimapur in the wee hours yesterday.
In another incident, unidentified gunmen abducted three persons yesterday and two of them were taken to the Duncan Basti area and shot at from point blank range. One of them died on the spot, while the other is battling for his life in a hospital in Dimapur.
The other abducted person was taken to the Ghorapatti area of Dimapur and shot dead. The latter was reportedly a student and was trying to get admission in a college in Dimapur.
Police also recovered a body from the Veterinary Colony area of Dimapur at around 1900 hours yesterday. The victim was later identified as a chaplain of the NSCN-IM.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur District Coordination Group for peace and security, which was formed on April 25, appealed to all groups engaged in factional feuds, to stop killing, abduction and extortion in the district.
In its first meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall last evening, the meeting proposed that differences must be resolved through dialogue and understanding.
