Two killed in a roof collapse in Haryana

Ambala, May 4 (UNI) A woman and her small child were killed and another son was injured in a house collapse in the Sikligar Mohalla Ambala Cantonment early this morning.

The incident occurred when the family members of Rajinder Kumar a labourer, were sleeping inside the single room residence. The improvised roof of the room suddenly collapsed early in the morning in which Rajinder's wife Anita (37) her two children Deepu (5) and Akash (12) were trapped.

Anita and Deepu were killed in the incident while Akash managed to come out of the debris sustaining serious injuries. However, Rajinder escaped unhurt since he was sleeping outside the room.

All the three were rushed to the civil hospital where Anita and her son Deepu were declared brought dead while Akash was admitted to the civil hospital here. On getting the information, former MLA Anil Vij along with his party workers reached the spot. Meanwhile, local MLA D K Bansal also rushed the spot. Officials from the administration inspected the site to take stock of the incident and cause of room collapse.

The bodies were handed over to the family members after postmortem. Mr Vij demanded due compensation to the aggrieved family.
