Over 47 lakh tonne wheat arrives in Haryana mandis
Chandigarh, May 3 (UNI) A total of 47.88 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far during the current rabi season.
Of this, 47.43 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased by six government procuring agencies. Besides 44,313 metric tonnes wheat was purchased by the traders which was only one per cent of the total arrival.
Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that last year 33.50 lakh metric tonnes wheat was purchased at the minimum support price of Rs 750 per quintal. Besides, a bonus of Rs 100 per quintal was also given to the farmers.
This year farmers are being given Rs 1000 per quintal for procurement of produce. He said the procuring agencies had surpassed the record of last three years in purchase of wheat.
