K'taka: Sonia, Manmohan to campain for Cong

Bangalore, May 2: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi will visit Karnataka on May 6 and May 7 respectively to campaign for the party's candidates in the state Assembly elections scheduled to be held in three phases.

State Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge announced that while Dr Singh would campaign for the congress candidates in Mysore and Bangalore city, Ms Gandhi would visit the city and Tumkur. Mr Kharge also announced that former Union Minister C M Ibrahim, once a close confidant of former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Devegowda has joined the Congress and he would be one of the key speakers during the party's election campaign. Assembly elections were scheduled to be held on May 10 (89 seats), May 16 (66 seats) and May 22 69 seats) in Karnataka.
