Shubhmangal scheme to be implemented all over Mah: Patil
Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) After getting good response for 'shubhmangal' scheme of mass marriages for the farmers children in six districts of Vidarbha, the Maharashtra government has plans to implement the same scheme for the children of farm labourers all over the state.
Talking to reporters here, Women and children welfare minister Harshwardhan Patil said at lest 50,000 couples are expected to tie the knot in the state under this scheme, for which the exchequer is expected to bear a total expenditure of Rs 60 crore.
He also said the government would give Rs 10,000 to the bride's parents and all the benefits are applicable only in the first marriage.
