Cop suspended for thrashing man in Jammu

Jammu, May 2: A police officer of Jammu and Kashmir Police was suspended for allegedly thrashing a man in the custody, official sources here said today.

''The police officer in-charge Ajay Chib in connection with investigations in the complaint registered by a woman against her husband, thrashed accused Amit Chouhan, (complainant's husband) at the Police Post,'' the sources said, adding that the victim reported the matter to the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Jammu.

An accused was called upon by the police post in-charge Mr Ajay Chib in his office, on a complaint from a woman.

However, the victim was hospitalised for treatment while the police officer was placed under suspension by the DIG Jammu Farooq Khan.
