Left stages walkout in LS amid passage of Finance Bill

New Delhi, Apr 29 (UNI) The Left Parties today walked out of the Lok Sabha in protest against the Government not responding positively to the five suggestions proposed by them to contain the price rise as the House passed the Finance Bill 2008 by a voice vote.

Towards the fag end of the adoption of the Bill, members of the Left Parties got up and said that they were leaving the House in protest as the Government had not given credence to their suggestions which included rationalisation of duty on petroleum products and ban on future trading.

They, however, sat through the process of adoption of the bill quietly.

As the Left members were walking out, the Opposition members mocked at their protest, saying if they were so serious they should withdraw their support to the UPA Government.
