Kodagu all set for a smooth polls
Madikeri, Apr 30: The District administration are making elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of Assembly elections in Kodagu Karnataka.
As part of the arrangements 105 supersensitive and 174 sensitive booths have been identified in the two assembly constituencies--Madikere and Virajpet-- which have 454 polling booths.
Police have formed groups to prevent any untoward incident in the two segments of Kodagu which are going to polls in the first phase on May 10.
As many as 16 candidates were in the fray and 3,71,777 voters would excercise their franchise to select their representatives.
Nearly 3,000 government employees, under the supervision of District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner K R Niranjan, were undergoing training to conduct the elections.
Somwarpet, which has been included in Madikeri constituency after the delimitation excercise has 91,478 men and 90, 690 women, while Virajpet constituency has 95,727 men and 93,882 women voters respectively.
