Rupee opens high at 40.14 against USD

Mumbai, Apr 29: Rupee today opened high at Rs 40.14/15 per USD with a small gain of two paise from its previous close at Rs 40.16/17 on fresh buying support from foreign banks on expectation of repo rate hike by 0.25 basis points on announcement of RBI's annual credit policy today, dealers said.

Rupee edged in a narrow band on Tuesday as traders were hesitant to take big positions ahead of RBI decision on interest rates due around this noon. Later, it traded in wide range between 40.15 and 40.24 per dollar, higher than Monday's close of 40.16/17 per USD, dealers added.
